december 4 and 7
The class started with a "mini-learning assessment" that covered 4.1 to 4.3 and your STEM teacher will return this to you next class. This would have told you if you are understanding your homework or not.
You were then given your fraction unit test to do corrections for in class. If you did not finish in class, then it is homework.
Homework:
1) Unit Test Corrections
2) Study for December Math Exam (integers, fractions, section 4.1 to 4.3)

december 2 and 3 - lesson 3
Today's lesson started with a warm-up assignment on percentages, decimals, and fractions. This was a worksheet that students did on their own and then the STEM teacher discussed it with the class.
This was followed by a lesson on percents, decimals, and fractions and how to convert between all three of these.
Students were then given time to work in groups on the assignment.
Homework:
1) Complete assignment box 3 (pg. 140 to 143)

November 30 and December 1 - Lesson 2a
Today, we looked at Lesson 2a: Problem Solving (in relation to rate, ratio, and proportional reasoning). Your teacher went over the "how to" checklist and then worked through a problem using that checklist. After this, students worked on the assignment sheet which had several problem solving questions. Students were encouraged to use their notes and follow the checklist to complete the assignment on a separate piece of paper.
If you were away, here is a copy of both the checklist and the assignment:

NOVEMBER 26 and 27 - Lesson 2
Today's math lesson was "Proportional Reasoning" and the format followed much of the same procedure as last class: we went over the notes together as a class, then we worked on a partner practice, then there was time to start on the assignment.
Homework:
1) Complete box 2 (Section 4.2 problems) on the assignment list for next class
- Don't forget that if you need extra help, you can ask your teacher, go to After School Club, or Math Tutoring.

November 24 and 25 - Start of Unit 3
Today in math you were given the new assignment list for Unit 3 (Chapter 4 in your workbook). We started this new unit by looking at notes on ratio, rate, and unit rate. There was a partner practice and then time to work on your assignment.
Don't forget that you ARE allowed to use a calculator for this unit.

NOVEMBER 20 and 23 - UNIT TEST
The month of November has been dedicated to learning fractions! We have covered all the operations of math in relation to fractions.
Don't forget that you have an assignment list that tells you which questions to do for homework and you have an answer key at the back of the workbook so that you can always check if you are getting the right or wrong answers.
Today's class was the UNIT TEST.
Homework: NONE :)

October 26 and 27 - unit test analysis
In math, we started with bellwork again. This time, it was a multiplication drill. Don't forget the three multiplication equations that you CANNOT get wrong next class.
Much time was then spent on going over the Unit Test. Your teacher went over some of the main issues that students faced on the test and then there was time to work on completing the Unit Test Corrections and Analysis.
HOMEWORK:
1) Complete the Unit Test Analysis for every question that you got wrong or half-wrong. Due October 28 and 29.

OCtober 15 - Day 1
Order of operations
For Math, we had a pop quiz that covered all four integer operations we have covered so far. We then corrected in partners and as a class the division homework assignment. After this we went over the "Order of Operations" notes. We then had time to work on the assignment.

For Math, we had a pop quiz that covered all four integer operations we have covered so far. We then corrected in partners and as a class the division homework assignment. After this we went over the "Order of Operations" notes. Due to the shortened block and the earthquake drill, we spent the rest of the class working on the assignment. You were also given back old assignments that have now been marked.

dividing integers
Class started once again with bellwork (this time on multiplication). We then marked the multiplication homework and worked in groups on correcting any errors we might have had. The notes were then on division. We practiced division in our group NPSA and had a short time to work on the assignment.

Multiplying integers
Today we had our first Math Quiz on Adding and Subtracting Integers. Your teacher will be handing back your quizzes when they are marked and you need to do corrections on a separate piece of paper (to be handed in on the Unit Test day).
We then looked at the notes on how to multiply integers, worked on groups on multiplication problems, and you had time for the assignment. This is homework if you did not complete it.

More work on integer addition/subtraction
During this class we spent a lot of time practicing our integer addition and subtraction. We did bellwork, corrected our homework assignment, and started on a worksheet that had more practice. There was also the rules of addition and subtraction mini-poster. All of this was to help us prepare for our quiz that is next class on lesson 1 and 2 of integers.
Homework:
1) Make your you did get all the correct answers on the last assignment (answer key below. There is an error in the answer key on questions 2d and 6c)
2) Study for the integers quiz (next class)
3) Complete the integers mini-poster (due next class)
4) Complete the integers worksheet (due next class)
